Jaguar Plano, part of Park Place Dealerships, was named the best dealership to work at in an Automotive News ranking.
The dealership topped the trade publication?s list of the ?100 Best Dealerships to Work For,? announced Wednesday in Chicago.
Best Companies Group compiled the list after reviewing surveys submitted by dealerships throughout the U.S. and Canada that had applied for inclusion.
Just three years ago, when the dealership was still Millenium Motor Cars, it was embroiled in a major dispute with Jaguar.
The automaker contended that the owner and some employees at the time had submitted fraudulent warranty claims.
Park Place bought the struggling dealership in May 2010, investing $1 million in a new showroom, building facade and other improvements.
Employees got additional training at company expense, including technicians who had previously been forced to pay for some of their classes.
?You can have the prettiest buildings in the world and the best cars in the world,? Ken Schnitzer, founder and chairman of Park Place Dealerships, told Automotive News. ?But if you don?t have people who are knowledgeable and well trained to deliver outstanding client service, then you?re wasting your time.?
In 2006, two of Schnitzer?s other local dealerships ? Park Place Lexus in Plano and Park Place Lexus in Grapevine ? became the first car dealerships ever to receive the prestigious Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Award.
